Comedy Central (DStv Channel 122) is aiming to get Africa talking, thanks to a new series of themed comedy spectaculars. Comedy Central Presents: Live at the Lyric, will consist of three stand-up gigs analysing and dissecting the steaming hot potatoes of contemporary culture – sexrace and religion.

Kicking off the series on 21-22 February 2014 is Comedy Central Presents: Sex Live at the Lyric, a show packed with penetrating jokes, searing stand-up and hilarious improv on everything and anything to do with sex. Subtitled “How Deep Is Your Love”, the show will be MC’d by comedy genius and regular sexpo visitor John Vlismas. Exposing their views on sex will be a top-notch line-up of SA comics: Celeste NtuliTrevor GumbiAnele Mdoda and Nik Rabinowitz. Two further topical comedy specials, ‘Colour Blind‘ and ‘Divine’, will go live later in June and September.

“Comedy Central is thrilled to scale up our live comedy offering with these three intimate examinations of the human condition. Sex, race and religion are three topics guaranteed to ignite a heated debate whenever they are discussed, and our skilled comedy line-up is well versed to explore the limitless comic potential they offer.” Evert van der Veer, Head of Comedy Central, Africa said.

Tickets for Comedy Central Presents: Sex Live at the Lyric, are on sale now at Computicket outlets, priced from R205 (discounts available for early bird, group bookings, pensioners and students). Highlights from all three shows are set to air on Comedy Central Africa later this year.
